A blog created to celebrate international freedom in education day. Sadly such freedom is in great danger today, thanks to the Badman Recommendations.
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win” Gandhi
Sometimes I make spelling mistakes, sometimes I indulge in sarcasm, from time to time I'll use hyberbole, I might even mix my metaphors. I am an imperfect human being - deal with it!
What a great day, not only is Michael Gove in charge of education, but we hear of the death of the DCSF. Wonderful, and to celebrate this was created by a real Jem.
Hopefully that's me signing out of this blog for the foreseeable!
How can you simultaneously support Michael Gove and 'freedom in education'? Gove is pushing for greater authority in schools over childrens' minds and bodies.
Depends what you mean by support I suppose. I didn't vote tory so I don't *support* him in that respect. However he had the good sense to understand that what the former government planned on doing to HE was a *bad thing*, and by that token he is supporting freedom in education. If a school has control over what it teaches it is, IMO, far better than were the government to have sole control. It means parents can choose to send their child to a school with an ethos that matches their own or they can (thanks to the conservatives & liberals) choose to find alternative provision - ie do it themselves ergo freedom in education survives. It's quite simple ;)
Hurray, to the death of the DCSF, will miss your posts, could you turn it into a good news blog?
ReplyDeleteLoving the grey out and pop up that appears over the old site!!!!
